Bluegrass fiddler Benjamin F. Logan dead at 87

Bluegrass fiddler BENJAMIN F. LOGAN has died, aged 87.
Logan passed suffered a heart attack and passed away on 24 April (15) in Morristown, New Jersey, according to the New York Times.
The fiddler worked as a mathematician and electrical engineer at AT&T Bell Laboratories in New Jersey by day, but performed as Tex Logan on the stage.
During his musical career, Logan shared the stage with Bluegrass icon Bill Monroe, singer and music historian Mike Seeger and the Grateful Dead’s Jerry Garcia.
Logan also gained fame as a songwriter, penning tracks including Diamond Joe, which was covered by the New Riders of the Purple Sage and Bob Dylan, and Christmas Time’s a-Comin’, which he wrote for Monroe. The festive tune was later recorded by Johnny Cash and Emmylou Harris.
