Bob Geldof leads tributes to tragic daughter Peaches

Irish rocker Bob Geldof has been left heartbroken by the sudden death of his daughter Peaches.

British socialite, model and TV personality Peaches Geldof was declared dead at her home in Kent, England on Monday afternoon (07Apr14) and her father has wasted no time in confirming the tragedy.

Responding to the sad news, which broke on Monday (07Apr14), the Live Aid icon and Boomtown Rats frontman paid tribute to the mother-of-two, who was married to singer Thomas Cohen, calling her, “the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers (craziest) of all of us”.

He adds, “We are beyond pain… Writing ‘was’ destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever. “How sad that sentence is. Tom and her sons Astala and Phaedra will always belong in our family, fractured so often, but never broken.” Peaches’ husband has also addressed the sad loss in a brief statement, which reads: “My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons Astala and Phaedra and I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts everyday (sic).”

Meanwhile, British celebrities have also offered up their thoughts via Twitter.com. Singer and friend Alexandra Burke writes, “I can’t believe Peaches has passed away.. I feel so numb. I’ve never met anyone so kind before. She was a beautiful person… My heart goes out to her family and her kids… Praying for them all xxx RIP Peaches”, and Myleene Klass adds, “The news of beautiful Peaches is utterly devastating, God bless her babies. RIP mama xxx”.

Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp also offered up his thoughts, tweeting, “RIP Peaches Geldof, what do you say, my heart goes out to Bob and all his family, I truly am saddened by this horrible news!”

And Ellie Goulding posts, “Even if you think you’ve got it all figured out, some things still can’t be explained or understood. Two beautiful children. RIP Peaches”.

Singer Lily Allen also marked her friend’s passing, writing, “My thoughts are with the Geldof’s (sic) at this awful time. I hope they get to grieve in peace. Peaches, rest in peace gorgeous girl,” and Sharon Osbourne adds, “Devastated about @peaches_g. Sending condolences & respect to the Geldof family. It’s unimaginable what they must be going through right now.”

Peaches’ death comes just a day after she tweeted a photo of herself and her late mother, British TV presenter Paula Yates, and shared photos and videos of her two young boys online. Yates died from a heroin overdose in 2000.
