Bold and the Beautiful wins big at Daytime Emmys

The longrunning soap opera beat out competition from axed rivals All My Children and One Life To Live, as well as General Hospital and The Young And The Restless to claim the night’s big prize at the TV awards.

The show also celebrated two other wins thanks to its stars – Heather Tom won for Supporting Actress, while Scott Clifton walked away with the prize for Younger Actor. The show shared the Directing honour with The Young And The Restless.

Ellen DeGeneres also continued her reign at the Emmys after her daily chat show was named the Best Talk Show for a second year running.

The lead acting awards went to Michael Park for As the World Turns and Laura Wright for General Hospital.

Oprah Winfrey’s protege Dr Oz Mehmet’s show Dr. Oz won Best Informative Talk Show and shared the Best Talk Show host prize with morning TV stalwarts Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa.

The ceremony was hosted by Wayne Brady and the night included special awards for Winfrey for her career achievements. The TV titan, who recently ended her talk show reign after 25 years, sent a message via videolink.
