Boyz II Men ‘deeply saddened’ by death of aspiring singer

R&B stars Boyz Ii Men have expressed their heartache over the death of an aspiring singer who joined the band onstage earlier this year (17).
Dr. Brandon Rogers died on Sunday (11Jun17), aged 29, from injuries sustained in a car accident in Maryland on Saturday (10Jun17).
He had previously caught the eye of the musicians after sharing a cover of their hit On Bended Knee on Instagram, and Boyz II Men were so impressed, they invited him out to Las Vegas to join them for a series of residency shows in January (17).
After news of his passing emerged on Tuesday (13Jun17), the bandmates took to social media to pay a touching tribute.
“Today our hearts are deeply saddened to learn about the sudden death of Dr. Brandon Rogers,” they wrote beside video footage from his guest appearance.
“A few moths back we brought this young man out to the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas to perform with us. He was great all 3 nights! Just a genuinely nice person and a really good singer! Gone too young and gone too soon.”
“It hurts to know that the world will never have a chance to witness what his impact on the world could have been as a Doctor and even on the music world,” they continued. “A great spirit and a great voice. Even for the little time we knew you you will be sorely missed. May God Bless, keep and comfort your family in this difficult time.”
Rogers had recently auditioned for the current season 12 of America’s Got Talent, performing in front of Simon Cowell and his fellow judges Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Mel B.
His episode had been due to air in the U.S. next month (Jul17), although producers have yet to decide whether or not to go ahead with the broadcast.
