Brad Pitt fights to dismiss lawsuit against New Orleans housing charity

Brad Pitt is seeking to dismiss a lawsuit filed against him and bosses at his New Orleans, Louisiana charity The Make It Right Foundation.
The actor launched the organisation following Hurricane Katrina to help residents of the Lower Ninth Ward neighbourhood rebuild homes destroyed by the deadly 2005 storm, but not everyone is happy with his charity efforts.
Earlier this year (18), members of the community filed a class action lawsuit alleging the houses Pitt’s organisation provided were not built properly.
On Tuesday (20Nov18), the star filed court documents, obtained by The Blast, maintaining the construction of the homes was not his responsibility. He also notes the charity was started “with the mission of building high-performance, sustainably-designed homes to be sold at affordable prices to residents of the Lower Ninth Ward, following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.”
The 54 year old points out the plaintiffs have praised his work with the organisation in the past and mentioned they are “extremely grateful” to him for his efforts in helping to rebuild the Lower Ninth Ward.”
The document reads: “Mr. Pitt cannot simply be lumped together with other defendants and held liable for alleged conduct in which he is not even alleged to have participated.”
Pitt is fighting to have the charges against himself dismissed but he is not acting on behalf of the other members of The Make It Right Foundation, who are also battling the suit.
The home owners claim they have suffered as a result of mold, poor plumbing and air quality, rotten wood, structural problems and ventilation issues.
