Breaking Bad creators plan spin-off with Bob Odenkirk

Hit U.S. drama Breaking Bad is set to live on with a spin-off series centred around the dodgy dealings of Bob Odenkirk’s lawyer character, Saul Goodman. The Emmy Award-winning show, which stars Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a cancer-stricken chemistry teacher-turned-drug lord, will go off screens after the end of its fifth and final season, but now fans have been given something else to look forward to, two months after creator Vince Gilligan admitted he would love to see Odenkirk land his own programme.
Bosses at network AMC and production studio Sony announced the spin-off project on Wednesday (11Sep13) in a joint statement, which reads: “As conceived, the new series is based on the show’s popular Saul Goodman character with the working title Better Call Saul… Plans call for Saul to be a one-hour prequel that will focus on the evolution of the popular Saul Goodman character before he ever became Walter White’s lawyer.”
Better Call Saul will be produced by writer Peter Gould, who created the character in 2009, with involvement from Gilligan.
The show is expected to premiere next year (14).
