Bridesmaids, 30 Rock and Modern Family lead Comedy Awards

Bridesmaids will compete for Best Comedy Film against Midnight in Paris, Horrible Bosses, The Artist and Crazy, Stupid, Love, while its stars Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy will battle it out for Best Film Actress.

Meanwhile, Steve Carell (Crazy, Stupid, Love), Oscar winner Jean Dujardin (The Artist), Jason Bateman (Horrible Bosses), Owen Wilson (Midnight in Paris) and Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover Part II) are all up for the title of Best Film Actor.

Wiig and Carell have also earned mentions for their acting work on the small screen – on Saturday Night Live and The Office, respectively.

Other stars up for the best TV acting categories include Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Ty Burrell (Modern Family), Tina Fey (30 Rock) and Sofia Vergara (Modern Family), while the Best Comedy Series will be a close competition between Modern Family, 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Happy Endings and Parks and Recreation.

McCarthy, Jason Sudeikis, Zooey Deschanel, Josh Gad and Donald Glover are all nominated for Breakout Performer of the Year.

The Comedy Awards, which is hosted by TV network Comedy Central and honours all things funny, will take place in New York on 28 April (12).
