Britain’s Queen laid low by chronic back pain

The 86-year-old royal was due to hand out more than 90 medals at Windsor Castle in England on Friday (12Oct12) but her son Charles, Prince of Wales is flying in from Scotland to take her place.

The monarch, who rarely cancels appearances, was advised not to take part in the event as she would be required to stand for more than an hour and lean over to pin honours on recipients.

A source tells Britain’s Daily Mail, “While the Queen’s condition is not serious, an investiture involved an hour of standing and she still has a sore back. The Queen is continuing to work but has decided to avoid the more physically demanding engagements.”
