Britney, Justin host Super Bowl party

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake may not have taken part in this year’s Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans, but the pop duo did celebrate the football extravaganza in style–right in the heart of New York City.

Spears and Timberlake co-hosted a Mardi Gras-themed Super Bowl fundraiser at Manhattan’s Planet Hollywood Sunday. Some 600 guests got to watch the game while feasting on Cajun food and enjoying live New Orleans entertainment.

The tickets sold for $1000 each, with all proceeds going to the couple’s respective charities. (The Britney Spears Foundation supports underprivileged children and the Justin Timberlake Foundation promotes music education in schools.)

Fans also got to bid on the chance to attend dance class with Timberlake or have a walk-on role in an upcoming Spears movie, video or commercial.

Sporting a cropped football jersey and hip-huggers, Spears said she was rooting for the Rams (or whichever Super Bowl team Timberlake was cheering for).

She managed to avoid questions about her recent engagement to Timberlake and instead opted to gab about her Pepsi commercial that ran during the game.

“My favorite era was the hippie one. I got to shoot it with my little sister, ” she told reporters. “She was a little nervous…I had to hold her hand.”

Spears was in the Big Apple to host Saturday Night Live for the second time, which the pop princess said was less stressful than the first, reports People.
