Brothers jailed over Transformers extortion plot

Two brothers have been jailed for their part in a plot to extort director Michael Bay while he was filming the new Transformers movie in Hong Kong. Mak Chi-shing, 27, was found guilty of attempted blackmail after he and his elder brother, Mak Chi-hang, 28, demanded $12,900 (£8,600) from the film crew as they attempted to shoot the blockbuster close to the family’s store.
Bay accused the pair of blocking the road with bricks and blasting loud music in a bid to halt production, alleging they later hurled an air-conditioning unit at him before turning on local cops after the crew refused to hand over the money.
Chi-shing was also convicted of assaulting a police officer during the scuffle, and he was jailed for two and a half years on Wednesday (26Feb14), while his brother Chi-hang was found guilty of resisting police officers and sentenced to six months behind bars.
