Bob Marley’s family to mark Exodus anniversary with tribute concert

Bob Marley’s family are marking the 40th anniversary of his Exodus album with a tribute concert in Los Angeles.
The late reggae legend’s sons Ziggy and Stephen will appear alongside musicians including Aloe Blacc and Tom Morello at the Exodus 40 live gig at the city’s Orpheum Theatre on 1 November (17).
Legendary musician and producer Don Was, who will serve as the concert’s musical director, told live music website Jam Base in a statement, “I am thrilled to be a part of this show with Ziggy and Stephen, and perform these songs for the fans.”
Although Marley began recording Exodus in his native Jamaica in 1976, it was finished in London in early 1977 after he fled his homeland due to an assassination attempt.
The record features many of his most popular hits including the title track, Waiting in Vain, Jamming, Three Little Birds and One Love/People Get Ready.
Ziggy reworked the album for an anniversary reissue titled Exodus 40: The Movement Continues, which was released earlier this year, and Was said the reissue had inspired him to help Ziggy and Stephen put together the tribute concert celebrating the album.
“After listening to Ziggy’s restatement of Exodus 40: The Movement Continues, the album struck me as something so powerful and rarely seen live in its entirety,” the producer said.
Marley died in 1981 at the age of 36 after a battle with skin cancer.
