BTS helping Lil Nas X smash chart record with Old Town Road remix

Lil Nas X has teamed up with K-pop sensation BTS for a new remix of his chart-topping hit Old Town Road.

The new mix, dubbed Seul Town Road, features BTS bandmember RM – real name Kim Nam-joon – and is the 80th official remix of the track.

RM adds a Korean twist to the lyrics, altering the word “homie” to “homi”, which is a Korean hand hoe and popular farming tool, and the reference sent social media wild.

“homies? homis.” wrote one user, while another tweeted, “Homi Swag.”

The track is one of 2019’s biggest sellers, and has tied hits including One Sweet Day by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men and Despacito by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber, for the longest-running number one hit on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

And taking to Twitter, the 20-year-old singer and rapper thanked fans as he teased the possibility of beating the record.

“THANK U TO EVERYBODY WHO STREAMED OLD TOWN ROAD THIS WEEK!! IN A FEW DAYS WE FIND OUT IF WE BROKE THE RECORD!! ITS BEEN A LONG JOURNEY & WHETHER WE HIT IT OR NOT I APPRECIATE & LOVE ALL OF YOU!!” he shared.
