Buju Banton to headline first concert since prison release

Reggae and dancehall star Buju Banton is set to make his stage comeback in March (19) following his release from prison.
Banton and his 10-piece Shiloh Band will headline a 90-minute set in his native Kingston, Jamaica on 16 March during the Long Walk to Freedom concert.
The show will mark the 45 year old’s first performance after serving almost eight years behind bars in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Grammy winner, born Mark Anthony Myrie, was arrested in Florida in December, 2009 on cocaine conspiracy and trafficking charges, and he was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in 2011.
He scored an early release on 7 December (18) and returned home to Jamaica to great fanfare.
In a statement issued to the Jamaica Gleaner ahead of his release, he said: “Having survived, I want to share the good news and strength of my music. I just want to continue making music, which I’ve devoted my life to. I look forward to the opportunity to say a personal thanks to my fans and everyone who supported me.”
