Busy Philipps Consoles Michelle Williams on Anniversary of Heath Ledger’s Death

Busy Philipps was on hand to console Michelle Williams on the 10-year anniversary of Heath Ledger’s death on Monday (22Jan18).

The Australian actor died on 22 January 2008 of an accidental intoxication from prescription drugs.

He and Williams, 37, had been in relationship after meeting in 2004 on the set of film Brokeback Mountain, and welcomed their daughter Matilda in October 2005.

Offering her long-time friend a shoulder to lean on Monday evening, Philipps took Instagram to upload a photo of her view of a sunset from an airplane with a red heart emoji. Several hours later, the Cougar Town actress posted a sombre selfie of her with Williams along with the caption: “It’s ok.”

Meanwhile, Philipps also reflected on her friendship with Ledger in her Instagram Stories, sharing how she is reminded of the late star every time she hears a particular song.

“I was just driving and I was thinking about my friend Heath who died 10 years ago and this song came on, (MGMT’s) Time to Pretend,” the 38-year-old said in a video. “It came out after he passed away and I remember when it came out…I just thought he would have liked this song. And for some reason, every time I hear this song… it’s weird.”

Philipps and Williams have been best pals since they starred in TV drama Dawson’s Creek together in the early 2000s, with The Greatest Showman actress once describing her friend as proof that the “love of your life does not have to be a man”.
