Cameo star suing former bandmates

Cameo frontman Larry Blackmon is suing four former bandmates for illegally profiting from his name and likeness.
The Word Up singer, who was famous for his colourful codpieces, is demanding a collective $2 million (£1.5 million) from Nathan Leftenant, Arnett Leftenant, Jeryl Bright and Gregory Johnson, according to court documents obtained by The Blast.
Blackmon, who founded the band, insists the four musicians were hired by him and should not benefit financially from the Cameo name, which he still uses to tour.
He claims he has had to contact venues in the past alerting staff and promoters to the fact his former bandmates are performing under Cameo or The Original Cameo Family, without permission.
He also alleges his former bandmates have been using his image in concert ads.
As well as the cash, Blackmon has requested an injunction that prohibits the former Cameo members from using the band’s name or his likeness
