Cameron Mackintosh sued for at-work injury

Theatre impresario Cameron Mackintosh has handed over a $2.9 million (£1.93 million) settlement to a delivery man who slipped and fell outside his New York City office. Mackintosh, who produced Broadway hits including Cats and Les Miserables, was successfully sued by a male FedEx employee who slipped on wet floors outside the office, which had been recently mopped by Mackintosh’s personal cleaning lady.
Mackintosh hired additional cleaning staff after the night crew provided by the management team of his office block did not meet his standards and he was therefore personally liable for the accident, which left the deliveryman hospitalised with neck and back injuries.
The deliveryman’s lawyer Scott Rynecki says, “For someone who produced elaborate Broadway shows, (Mackintosh) didn’t do such a good job managing his personnel. There are obvious dangers with mopping the floor at the same time people are arriving for work.”
The settlement was negotiated last week (begs22Jul13) in Brooklyn Supreme Court, according to the New York Daily News.
