Candice Swanepoel collaborating on sustainable shoe line

Top model Candice Swanepoel has collaborated with Mara & Mine on a new shoe collection.
The South African beauty has posed for countless brands since breaking out as a 15-year-old model with stints for Victoria’s Secret, Fendi, Givenchy, and Stella McCartney, and now she is dipping her toes into the design business, having teamed up with Australian designers Jasmine Yarbrough and Tamie Ingham to create four types of sandals.
“The inspiration came from my love of the summer months, travel and my bohemian and minimalist style,” Candice told Footwear News. “I wanted to create a summer collection that is flattering, simple and ethical, to show people that vegan accessories can be just as beautiful and luxurious as leather accessories.”
The blonde beauty first came across Mara & Mine when the label was brought to her attention by a friend, and then she met the designers and they immediately bonded over their fashion ethics.
Keeping busy with the collaboration proved to be the perfect project for Candice to work on following the arrival of her son Anaca in October (16).
“We discussed both of our aesthetics in that first meeting in New York, then brainstormed a few different ideas and had a personal Pinterest board that we each added to,” Tamie recalled. “We got this overall bohemian vibe from Candice, and certain styles she liked. And when she was visiting L.A., she came to our office, and we put all our collective images together and started sketching out ideas.”
A portion of sales will benefit the charity Mothers2Mothers.
