Cara Delevingne: ‘People find it hard to take me seriously’

Model Cara Delevingne insisted she has had to work hard to make people take her seriously as an actress.

The 27-year-old made her TV debut in Amazon Prime Video’s new show Carnival Row, alongside Orlando Bloom, which is streaming now. And while she’s enjoyed starring roles in movies including Suicide Squad and Paper Towns, she confessed the transition from runway to screen wasn’t an “easy ride”.

Admitting that she “likes to make people laugh” also didn’t help, Cara told The Guardian: “I think people have always found it hard to take me seriously.

“But I’m very professional, I work extremely hard and also I like the fact that people were questioning my talent,” she continued. “To be honest, I like having to prove myself to people, you know. I don’t want an easy ride.”

Despite recently insisting she hasn’t given up her modeling career, the star confessed she didn’t find working as a model “fulfilling”, adding: “A lot of the time, you don’t get your voice heard. I didn’t in so many ways.

“I always wanted to be an actor,” Cara revealed. “That was always something I knew since I was a kid. Dreams don’t always come true, but they did.”
