Cartoon boss Lou Scheimer dies

Top cartoon producer Lou Scheimer has died, just two days from his 85th birthday. He passed away on Thursday (17Oct13), his wife Mary Ann has confirmed. No further details surrounding his death have been released.
After graduating with an art degree, Scheimer founded the Filmation animation studio in 1962. The company went on to make kids’ classics including Fat Albert, The Archie Show and Batman.
One of his most successful cartoon series was He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, which he also executive produced, and he also won a Daytime Emmy Award for producing the 1970s Star Trek animated series.
He is survived by his wife, his daughter Erika and his son Lane.
