CBS wins Wednesday, helped by “60 Minutes II”

A surprisingly strong showing for the CBS’s 60 Minutes II on Wednesday gave the network a primetime win — on a night that usually belongs to NBC. The magazine show posted a 7.4 rating and a 13 share in the 8 p.m. hour, while a rerun of Ed managed only a 3.9/7 on NBC and The Drew Carey Show, a 4.6/8 on ABC. On Fox, King of the Hill and Grounded for Life each drew an identical 3.8/7. The CBS movie Murder at 75 Birch also did well, averaging a 7.9/13 between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Its toughest competitor was NBC’s The West Wing (6.9/11) and Law & Order (8.9/15).
