Cedric The Entertainer has filed a lawsuit against executives of a utility company over a 2015 gas leak in Southern California.

The Barbershop actor was just one of thousands of residents who were affected by a massive gas leak which came from the Southern California Gas Company’s (SoCalGas) underground storage facility near Porter Ranch, Los Angeles. It was estimated that more than 100,000 metric tonnes of methane was released into the air between October 2015 and February 2016.

Cedric, real name Cedric Kyles, has now filed a lawsuit against executives of the company, claiming they are responsible for the leak because they failed to replace an emergency safety valve back in 1979, according to TMZ.com.

He has also alleged that his family suffered nausea, nosebleeds, vomiting and vertigo due to the leak, and he is now facing financial issues because the value of his property has dropped significantly in the wake of the incident.

Thousands of residents were displaced due to the disaster and many have filed lawsuits since. Authorities at Los Angeles County filed criminal charges against SoCalGas but they reached a plea agreement in September 2016 in which company bosses plead no contest to one misdemeanor count of failing to immediately report the leak.

SoCalGas was ordered to pay a $4 million fine.
