Celebrity photographer Bert Stern dies

A celebrity photographer who captured the images of Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Dame Elizabeth Taylor has died at the age of 83. Bert Stern passed away at his home in Manhattan, New York on Wednesday (26Jun13), although further details about his death were not available as WENN went to press.
Born in Brooklyn, Stern became famous in 1962 after snapping thousands of pictures of Monroe for a Vogue magazine shoot, just weeks before she died of a drug overdose.
The images, which included nude and semi-nude shots, were later published in his 1982 book The Last Sitting.
Stern also photographed former British model Twiggy, Truman Capote and Gary Cooper, and worked on a number of popular advertising campaigns for Smirnoff vodka and canned meat brand Spam.
Stern is set to be remembered during a funeral service on Friday (28Jun13).
