Celine Dion felt like she was cheating on her late husband when she agreed to sing a new song for Disney’s Beauty and The Beast remake.
The singer teamed up with Peabo Bryson to record the love theme for the animated movie 26 years ago and when Disney bosses asked her to sing a new song for the forthcoming live-action version starring Emma Watson, she couldn’t say yes straight away.
“My first Beauty and the Beast, the decision was made with my husband,” she tells Entertainment Tonight. “Now I’m making decisions on my own. It’s a little bit harder. I couldn’t say yes right away, because I felt like I was kind of cheating in a way.”
Celine’s manager husband, Rene Angelil, died at the beginning of last year (Jan16).
She’s glad she agreed to sing How Does a Moment Last Forever for the new Disney film – because it gave her an emotional full circle moment.
“I was at the beginning of my career (when I performed Beauty and the Beast),” she says. “The song put me on the map. It put me where I am today.”
The new Beauty and the Beast theme has been recorded by John Legend and Ariana Grande.
