Celine Dion has taken something positive from her husband Rene Angelil‘s passing last year (16) – she’s happy with the way she prepared the couple’s sons for their father’s death.

The mum-of-three looked happy and healthy on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (12Feb17) and told reporters she and sons Nelson, Eddy and Rene-Charles are “blooming” 13 months after Angelil lost his battle with cancer.

And she’s proud of the way she got the boys ready to say their final goodbyes to their father.

“It’s something that I had no choice to take charge of, that I’m proud of,” she said.

And she admits the tragedy has really made her make the most of every moment: “That was a lesson for me – you never know when things like this strike and you need to take charge,” the My Heart Will Go On singer added.

“In life, you never know what’s going to happen, so you should never wait for tomorrow to do what can be done today, to say I love you, or send a thank-you note, or to call your mom or dad, or get something out of your chest (sic), or your best friend, or tomorrow. The future is now.”
