Captain America: Civil War star Chadwick Boseman made a young cancer-stricken fan’s dreams come true on Tuesday (25Apr17) by paying him a surprise visit.

The actor, who made his debut as T’Challa and his Marvel superhero alter ego Black Panther in the 2016 Captain America film, took a break from filming in Atlanta, Georgia to stop by a local elementary school and spend some time with Ian Hopgood, who was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in November (16).

Hopgood, who relies on a wheelchair to get around, is a big fan of Chadwick’s onscreen character, so the star decided to help lift the kid’s spirits by spending the afternoon with him and treating him to a basket of Marvel gifts, including an action figure of Black Panther.

The visit put a big smile on Hopgood’s face – and even made him jump to his feet in excitement.

“We kind of go off the theory of laughter heals and joy heals, and happiness heals, so that’s how we live every day because we honestly don’t know what tomorrow is going to bring,” his mother, Kara Anderson, told the local Fox News network.

“So, for him to have a moment like this, and be able to jump up, I was afraid he might fall, and run to him and hug his hero, is… there really aren’t words.”

The meeting was also a joy for Boseman, who spent hours signing autographs, posing for photos, and chatting with Hopgood and his friends.

Ian ran and gave me a hug; that is the best reception I’ve gotten as the Black Panther yet!” he said. “Thank you!”

Boseman recent wrapped production on his stand-alone Black Panther movie, which is set for release in February, 2018, while he is currently shooting Avengers: Infinity War with the likes of Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Pratt, and Brie Larson, who has been cast as the new Captain Marvel.

That action blockbuster is due to hit movie theaters in spring, 2018.
