Chance the Rapper donates another $1 million to Chicago public schools

Chance The Rapper is continuing to support his hometown schools by donating another $1 million (£754,000) to the public school system in Chicago, Illinois.
The No Problem hitmaker donated $1 million to school officials in March (17) after a disappointing meeting about his home state’s education funding with Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner, and now he has announced he has partnered with bosses at the Jewel-Osco supermarket chain to give another $1 million. The money will go to the New Chance: Arts & Literature Fund, according to AllHipHop.com.
“Your parents, your grandparents, your kids will pay money into your schooling out of their cheques, and it’s supposed to affect all of our kids the same way. It doesn’t work that way,” Chance recently told students at the Michele Clark High School. “I want y’all to do the research. I’m talking to anybody that goes to Michele Clark. You guys don’t receive the same benefits that a lot of other people do, and your parents pay the same money into the same government taxes.”
In addition to his own donations, Chance also recently spearheaded a campaign raising another $2.2 million (£1.7 million) for the city’s public schools through his organisation, the New Chance: Arts and Literature Fund, and provided free music courses to young people in his home city over the summer (17) via his SocialWorks non-profit organisation.
