Chanel Iman wore two custom Zuhair Murad gowns on her wedding day.
The model married National Football League player Sterling Shepard on Saturday (03Mar18) in a ceremony held at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.
With a successful fashion career under her belt, which includes runway appearances for top brands such as Burberry, Tom Ford and Gucci, Chanel had plenty of choices when it came to her wedding dress but settled on one of Murad’s white gowns with floral appliques and a cape accent for her nuptials.
“I never really envisioned wearing something like that for my wedding, but the moment I put it on, we all loved it. It’s so chic and unusual but also something that felt a little vintage,” she told U.S. Vogue, adding that she was drawn to the back of the dress as much as she was the front. “The fact that it was interesting from the back was something that I really loved, as guests tend to have that view for a portion of the service, something (that) I think often gets overlooked.”
Chanel’s long-time stylist Anita Patrickson matched her first dress with one of Murad’s veils and diamond earrings from Neil Lane. And for the reception, the fashion star changed into a blush colored tulle number which allowed her to hit the dance floor alongside guests including fellow model Jourdan Dunn as well as friends Chrissy Teigen and Gabrielle Union.
“Most importantly, I wanted to be comfortable and able to dance,” the 27-year-old shared of the gown, which is known as the Christie design. “The pink and the deep V-neckline really appealed to my ‘girlier’ side, and it’s a shape I really love wearing.”
Chanel’s bridesmaids sported chic white dresses from Watters, while Sterling rocked a classic black suit from Hugo Boss.
