Channing Tatum’s young daughter isn’t a fan of his breakthrough movie Step Up.
The actor started dating Jenna Dewan after meeting her on the set of the 2006 dance film, with the pair marrying in 2009 and later welcoming daughter Everly in 2013.
While the film is very sentimental for the Hollywood couple, Channing has admitted that their four-year-old wasn’t exactly thrilled when they first played the movie to her.
“We actually showed her Step Up for the first time,” he said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night (31Jul17). “And we were like this is really cool, it’s got dancing, she’s going to love it. Within ten seconds she was like, ‘Can I watch a real movie? Can I have a good one?’ We’re like, ‘What do you mean? This is a real movie, it’s such a real movie they made like seven more of these!'”
In spite of Everly’s reaction, Channing wasn’t too upset as his daughter is currently obsessed with watching Disney’s animated hit film Moana at the moment.
And while his little girl won’t be allowed to view his male stripper movie Magic Mike or its spin-off Las Vegas revue, the 37-year-old admits that she has inherited his energetic dance style.
“She was there for (the filming of) Magic Mike, a lot of it, and now her dancing is showing that she’s seen a lot of it. I’m like, ‘I didn’t teach her that,'” he laughed.
As well as working on movies such as Logan Lucky and Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Channing also has input about the Magic Mike Live show at the Hard Rock Hotel. And he has warned fans that it’s best not to get too close to the performers.
“As soon as the show starts, it’s no holds barred. Some of the stuff that they do on stage is really intense… We’ve got guys chipping teeth, it’s a full-on thing – there are things getting hurt that should not be getting hurt,” the star added.
