Charlize Theron raising eldest child Jackson as a girl

Charlize Theron has confirmed that she is raising her first child Jackson as a girl.

The Monster actress first introduced Jackson to the world as a boy after she adopted the child in 2012, but questions were raised last year (18) when she was spotted out and about with seven-year-old Jackson, and her three-year-old adopted daughter August, wearing a dress.

The 43-year-old has opened up about it in a new interview with The Daily Mail, in which she reveals Jackson has been raised as a girl since she was three.

“Yes, I thought she was a boy, too. Until she looked at me when she was three years old and said, ‘I am not a boy!'” she said. “So there you go! I have two beautiful daughters who, just like any parent, I want to protect and I want to see thrive.

“They were born who they are and exactly where in the world both of them get to find themselves as they grow up, and who they want to be, is not for me to decide. My job as a parent is to celebrate them and to love them and to make sure that they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be. And I will do everything in my power for my kids to have that right and to be protected within that.”

The South African star, who is currently promoting movie Long Shot, previously hinted about Jackson’s identity when she told Black Panther’s Michael B. Jordan that she has “two young beautiful, black, African-American girls” during a chat for Variety’s Actors on Actors series in December.
