Cher: ‘I shouldn’t have publicly criticised Miley Cyrus’

Pop superstar Cher feels “a little ashamed” after blasting Miley Cyrus over her provocative performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, insisting she should have kept her “big opinionated mouth” shut. The 20 year old hit headlines for her sexually-suggestive set at the New York prizegiving last month (Aug13), when she gyrated up against Robin Thicke’s crotch in a barely-there outfit as they performed his summer smash Blurred Lines, and this week (begs16Sep13), Cher became the latest celebrity to criticise Cyrus for her raunchy stage act, insisting she was unimpressed by the former Hannah Montana star and advising her to “be better” and “do better”.
She added, “It just wasn’t done well. She can’t dance, her body looked like hell, the song wasn’t great, one (butt) cheek was hanging out. And, chick, don’t stick out your tongue if it’s coated. If you’re going to go that far, then think about it before you do it.”
However, Cher now regrets expressing her views so openly and has attempted to clear up the controversy via her Twitter.com blog – although she insists it’s not an apology.
In a series of posts on Wednesday (18Sep13), in which she refers to Cyrus as ‘Miley S’, she writes, “Re: Miley S… I Think What I Think, but Having Said That…I’m a little ashamed…

She’s Talented, & DIDNT (sic) COMMIT A FELONY’…
“But somehow my ego had 2 (to) get ITS 2 CENTS IN! …I DIDNT (sic) SUPPORT A FELLOW ARTIST. TRUTHFULLY SHE WAS Fkng (f**king) BRILLIANT..CAUSE…WE’RE STILL TALKING ABOUT IT. Ps this is Not an apology 4 (for) what I Thought, its (sic) a Reminder, that if I don’t practice (sic) my principles, I loose (lose) Them”.
