The star passed away of natural causes on 19 September (16).
Breen became a star on Eddie Cantor’s weekly radio show in 1936 and made his movie debut in Let’s Sing Again. He went on to star in films like Rainbow on the River, Make a Wish, and Escape to Paradise.
He made his last movie, Johnny Doughboy, in 1942, and retired from movies after his singing voice changed.
After college and a spell in the military, Breen signed a recording contract with Motown, but he never released an album.
In the 1980s, he started a talent agency, Bobby Breen Enterprises, for older actors.
Another major claim to fame: he also appeared on the cover of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
