Childish Gambino slams label bosses over music video

Rapper Childish Gambino has accused bosses at his Glassnote Records label of mismanaging his latest video shoot. The promo for Sweatpants, the latest single from his Because the Internet album, debuted on Monday (14Apr14), and shortly after it was unveiled online, the MC/actor took to to express his disappointment over the handling of the project.
Without giving too much detail about exactly how the project went wrong, he wrote, “So this Sweatpants video and blog was important to us and it wasn’t handled correctly.
“We were told a lot of things were gonna happen and they were all lies. So I’m done someone buy me out of this (record) contract.”
He continued, “A lot of people (executives) came around after our first week sales. All those people are welcome now. (Record labels) Def Jam, Atlantic, whatever… I don’t like record companies but I’m not having another project go through this.
“Don’t lie to me… I know I’m not loud, or outrageous, or a white girl with a big a**, but I’m f**kin honest. My team is honest. ur (you are) not on my team if ur (sic) not honest. Don’t lie to me.”
Because the Internet is the star’s second album with Glassnote Records, and together with his 2011 commercial debut record Camp, he has sold nearly 500,000 units with the label.
