Choreographer Danny Daniels dead at 92

Award-winning choreographer has died, aged 92.
The dancer passed away on 7 July (17) at his home in Santa Monica, California, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Daniels began his career at the age of 14 when he was cast as a tap dancer in Bing Crosby movie musical The Star Maker before making his Broadway debut two years later in the chorus of musical Best Foot Forward, which was choreographed by Gene Kelly.
He subsequently became lead dancer on Broadway productions such as Billion Dollar Baby, Street Scene and Kiss Me, Kate and choreographed 16 shows which played to audiences in New York, on London’s West End and in Los Angeles.
He received four Tony nominations for his choreography and took home the trophy in 1984 for his work on The Tap Dance Kid.
Daniels later returned to Best Foot Forward as a director and helmed the 1963 off-Broadway revival, which starred Liza Minnelli and Christopher Walken.
He also worked in television, creating routines for The Martha Raye Show and over 100 TV specials for stars such as Crosby and Kelly, as well as film, with credits including Minnelli’s musical comedy Stepping Out and Pennies From Heaven, which starred Steve Martin, who was taught how to tap dance by Daniels.
He received an Emmy award for his TV special The Fabulous Fifties, which starred Dick Van Dyke.
He is survived by his three children.
