Chris Tarrant suffered ‘mini-stroke’ on flight

British TV host Chris Tarrant suffered a “mini-stroke” on a flight earlier this month (Mar14) and subsequently underwent surgery to save him from a potentially fatal blood clot. The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? presenter was hospitalised on 1 March (14) after he fell ill on a flight back to his native U.K. from Thailand.
Reports suggested he had suffered a nasty asthma attack, but now Tarrant’s agent has revealed the health crisis was much more serious.
The 67-year-old star suffered a “mini-stroke” during the flight, and doctors later found a blood clot in his leg. They performed emergency surgery to remove the clot before it could travel to his brain and cause a major stroke. He remains under the care of doctors at a hospital in London.
Tarrant’s agent/manager Paul Vaughan says, “They found a clot which they managed to break up. It was a clot in the leg and that can immediately go to the brain or lungs. He is determined to leave hospital. But he’s not going back to work. This is a nasty wake-up call.”
