Chris Young honoured with namesake cafe at alma mater

Country singer Chris Young is set to have a cafe named in his honour at his alma mater.
The I’m Comin’ Over star attended Middle Tennessee State University back in 2005, but abandoned his studies the following year after winning U.S. TV talent show Nashville Star, which earned him his first contract with RCA Records Nashville and launched his music career.
Despite not graduating, Young has shown his support to the university by donating audio equipment to college officials in 2012 and establishing an annual scholarship for recording industry students from 2016.
His philanthropic work has now earned him recognition from university bosses, who will rename the campus’ Cyber Cafe the Chris Young Cafe this autumn (19), according to Taste of Country.
In addition to providing a dining area for students and staffmembers, the newly-renovated space will also boast two raised platforms, so aspiring musicians can use the area as a practice hall during the day, before being turned into a performance venue at night, giving wannabe artists and concert and audio production students opportunities to learn about their future careers.
