Chrissy, plays Kate Pearson, one of three siblings in a tight-knit family who is battling to lose weight, on the hit NBC show. The 36-year-old actress has been open about her battles with her weight in real-life too, and has admitted to struggling with body image problems for years.
Lady Gaga was recently criticised for her stomach during her Super Bowl appearance earlier this month (Feb17) and that left the actress fuming, so she has passionately come to Gaga‘s defence.
“That made me bonkers, bananas crazy,” Chrissy sighed during a recent interview with SiriusXM.
“How is someone fat if they’re not fat? I wanna see somebody else get on that damn stage and do what the hell she did.
“What the core of the issue is is that we project all of our stuff and our crap on other people,” she continued. “If we’re really, really genuinely happy with ourselves and we love ourselves, you can’t talk s**t about other people. You can’t be hateful because you love yourself.”
During the performance, one user wrote on social media, “Gaga, that flap though!” as another added, “I just feel like #Gaga’s dough should’ve been tucked in better,” and Gaga herself took to her Instagram page days after the Super Bowl to shut down the body shamers.
I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I'm proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too. No matter who you are or what you do. I could give you a million reasons why you don't need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed. Be you, and be relentlessly you. That's the stuff of champions. thank you so much everyone for supporting me. I love you guys. Xoxo, gaga
