Cinderella Has Fairytale Start at the U.S. Box Office

Cinderella has worked her magic on the U.S. box office thanks to a $70.1 million (GBP46.7 million) opening weekend haul.

Kenneth Branagh‘s live-action take on the fairytale, starring Lily James and Richard Madden, waltzed to the top of the American film charts, grossing almost $60 million (GBP40 million) more than second-placed Run All Night, Liam Neeson‘s latest thriller. Kingsman: The Secret Service made it five weeks in the top three at three, while Will Smith‘s Focus and Neill Blomkamp‘s Chappie round out the new top five.
