Clay Walker honoured in native Texas

Country star Clay Walker has been honoured for his career achievements in his native Texas. The What’s It to You singer was on hand at the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame for its 2015 induction ceremony on Thursday (15Jan15), when he was presented with the Rick Smith Spirit of Texas Award, which celebrates unique residents of the state.
Speaking before the ceremony, Walker said, “I am thrilled and honoured to be receiving this award. It’s been given to George (Strait) and Willie (Nelson) – some of the music industry’s most respected musicians and it’s incredible to even be mentioned in their company. What a wonderful start to 2015!”
The prize is named after late country music and concert producer Rick Smith, who suffered a fatal heart attack in 2004.
