Colin Farrell went overboard with personal grooming prior to filming his first sex scene.
The Irish actor made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday (08May17), and as part of a segment called Celebrity Confessions he recounted a very awkward experience.
When in the hot seat, Colin revealed he ran into trouble on one of his first movies, Joel Schumacher’s 2000 war film Tigerland, when he got a little carried away when it came to trimming his body hair.
“Like most men, I had what you could refer to as retro bush,” he laughed, explaining that he had nervously flashed Joel, and asked him if his body hair was too much for the scene.
Colin then sought out the hair and make-up team for help, asking for a beard trimmer.
“I don’t know if they ever used the beard trimmer after. I went into my trailer, I got a bin, and I sat over the bin. And I trimmed the right side a little bit, and the obviously I had to match it, so I trimmed the left, but I overshot the mark a little bit so I had to get back in and approach right again,” he shared. “At this stage I was sweating, and then I looked down and I had a little landing strip – a lovely, lovely little landing strip.”
Meanwhile, Colin was also questioned by host Ellen about his upcoming birthday, as the star turns 41 on 31 May (17).
And the actor, who appears in the forthcoming drama The Beguiled, shared that he is feeling good and currently celebrating being sober for 10 years following a battle with drug addiction.
“I love getting older,” he smiled. “Except getting hair in strange places and losing hair in not-so-strange places a bit. It’s kind of an aversion that’s unfavorable. I robbed that from Billy Crystal in (film) City Slickers, for anybody that cares.”
