Colin Firth’s Mr. Darcy tops TV poll

Colin Firth’s iconic lake swim as Mr. Darcy in a BBC adaptation of Pride And Prejudice has been named the most memorable moment in British TV drama history. The Hollywood actor sent pulses racing when he emerged in a wet, see-through shirt during in the 1995 series, and the scene has now been voted top in a U.K. TV poll.
The survey, for the Drama channel, named the top 10 most memorable moments in U.K. TV drama, and Firth’s scene beat out competition from another period drama, Downton Abbey, which gained a mention for the shocking death of Lady Sybil Crawley in season three.
Other top TV drama moments mentioned in the survey include the apparent death of TV detective Sherlock Holmes in an episode of Benedict Cumberbatch’s popular series Sherlock.
