Comedian D.L. Hughley Opens Up About Losing Lovechild

Comedian D.L. Hughley has shared his heartache after conceiving a son out of wedlock years ago, only for the boy to allegedly be killed by his mistress’ boyfriend.

The Soul Plane star has been married to his wife LaDonna Hughley since 1986, but he explains early in his career, he cheated on her and became a father to a baby boy.

However, the young child died after his lover’s boyfriend reportedly shook the tot too hard.
“I had knocked this chick up and had the baby and the baby got killed by her boyfriend,” he told Angela Yee’s Lip Service podcast. “It was a horrible, horrible experience. I had this baby that I’m paying for (sic). I’m a boy, I was scared, I was married. I was just starting out my career.”

“I get a call from my boy (a close friend) and he says, ‘Your son is in the hospital’,” Hughley continued. “So, I go to the hospital and this boy (his child) was laying on the bed. Apparently, her boyfriend had shaken him and damaged his brain.”

Hughley kept the baby and his death a secret from his wife for several years, but when he finally opened up to her about the tragedy, he was surprised by her reaction.

“Finally, one day I tell my wife and you know what she said to me?,” he added. “‘I wish you would have told me this and we could’ve went through this together (sic)’.”

The actor and his wife share three grown-up children together: daughters Ryan Nicole and Tyler Whitney, and son Kyle.
