Comedian Rory McGrath arrested over assault charges – report

British comedian Rory Mcgrath has been arrested on suspicion of assault following an incident near his home in Cornwall, England, according to reports. The 57-year-old funnyman, who hails from Cambridge, England, was taken into custody last Friday (10May13) amid claims he drunkenly attacked a man and a woman who were attempting to help him.
A statement released by a spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police reads: “Police were called to a property in the Pool area, near Redruth, at 10pm on Friday May 10, following a report that a man had assaulted a male and female couple, who it was understood, were attempting to assist this man.
“A man in his late 40s received a bloody nose and scratches to the face. A 57-year-old man from the Cambridge area was arrested on suspicion of common assault and ABH (actual bodily harm) assault. He was later bailed until July 5.”
A representative for McGrath has declined to comment after confessing she was unaware of the alleged incident.
