Comic actor Gorden Kaye dies

British comic actor Gorden Kaye has died aged 75.
The star, best known for his role in Second World War sitcom ‘Allo ‘Allo, passed away at a care home on Monday (23Jan17), his former agent confirmed to BBC News.
Kaye played French cafe owner Rene Artois on the hit comedy, which ran for 10 years from 1982 to 1992.
‘Allo ‘Allo focused on Rene, his staff and members of the French resistance movement’s battle against occupying Nazi troops.
The actor appeared in all 84 episodes of the beloved sitcom, as well as a stage version.
During a lengthy TV career he also appeared in a number of other popular British comedy shows including It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, Are You Being Served? and the film version of Ronnie Barker’s prison based sitcom Porridge.
Kaye also had a small part in Terry Gilliam’s acclaimed dystopian satire Brazil.
In 1990 he suffered serious head injuries in a car accident during a major storm and required emergency brain surgery to treat his injuries.
His last screen role came in 2004, in BBC sketch show Revolver.
