Comic Caroline Aherne fighting lung cancer

Top British comedienne Caroline Aherne is battling lung cancer. The celebrated funnywoman has undergone treatment in Manchester, England.
She is teaming up with officials at the U.K.’s Macmillan Cancer Improvement Partnership to call for better support for patients and carers living with the deadly disease.
Aherne says, “I’ve had cancer and my brother’s had cancer and we know how it affects people… The reason why the partnership has been formed is because all the partners recognise that the whole cancer care system is fragmented, meaning that people do fall through the cracks.
“They’ve asked me to get involved and I’m really glad that I can do my bit to encourage people to speak up about where things do go wrong with cancer care.”
She will help launch the campaign on 26 July (14).
Aherne, who wrote and starred in hit U.K. shows The Royle Family and The Mrs. Merton Show, has previously battled cancer of the retina and bladder. Her brother, Patrick, was also born with rare retina cancer.
