“Concert for New York” CD to be released

Live performances from Paul McCartney, The Who, David Bowie and many other artists who performed at The Concert for New York City will be included on a live, double compact disc, The Associated Press reported.

The six-hour concert, which took place in New York’s Madison Square Garden on Oct. 20, aired live on the music cable network VH1. Among the tracks listed on the album are Billy Joel‘s “New York State of Mind,” Melissa Etheridge‘s cover of Bruce Springsteen‘s “Born to Run,” and McCartney‘s “Freedom,” a charity single which he wrote specially for the show.

A Columbia Records spokesperson confirmed with Hollywood.com on Friday that the two-CD set is scheduled for release on Nov. 27 for a suggested price of $24.98. All proceeds from sales will go to the Robin Hood Relief Fund, benefiting victims from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

DVD and VHS versions of the show will go on sale in the coming months.
