The Shirley Valentine star agreed to have his DNA analysed to discover his roots as part of the Scotland’sDNA initiative in his native country.
He was aware his dad Alfonso had moved to the U.K. from Italy, but was stunned to discover one of his forefathers had founded the Bonaparte family in the military leader’s native Corsica.
Conti says, “Some friends said they weren’t surprised to find out that Napoleon and I were related, but it came as quite a shock to me. In fact, I didn’t believe it at first. I burst out laughing when they told me. But I’ve got used to it now – and am really rather pleased.”
