Costs recouped for Jackson’s Broadway play

The stageshow, starring Jackson as civil rights icon Martin Luther King, Jr., is based on playwright Katori Hall’s reimagining of the events in Memphis, Tennessee on 3 April, 1968 – the night before King’s assassination.

The play began previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre in September (11) and it’s proved to be a box office hit, recovering the full production costs just days before the curtain falls on the show for the final time on Sunday (22Jan12).
