Country singer Patsy Stoneman dies

Country singer PATSY STONEMAN has died at the age of 90.
The daughter of country pioneer Ernest V. ‘Pop’ Stoneman, passed away at her Manchester, Tennessee home on 23 July (15).
Born Pattie Inez Stoneman, one of a brood of 23, she followed in her father’s musical footsteps in the early 1960s, when she formed her own namesake band in the Washington, D.C. area.
After her dad’s death in 1968, she took over his spot in the family band, joining forces with a number of her siblings as she strived to keep her father’s legacy alive.
She became a radio host in the 1980s, presenting Down Home with the Stonemans, and later teamed up with sister Donna and brother Ron to form a new family act. Their last release, The Stoneman Tradition, hit retailers in 2012.
Patsy was laid to rest in a funeral service in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday (28Jul15).
