Country star Hillary Scott recording gospel album with family

Lady Antebellum star Hillary Scott is making her next album a family affair by recording gospel tracks with her parents and sister.
The Need You Now hitmakers recently embarked on a hiatus so they could focus on solo, and the time away from the group has allowed singer Hillary to hit the studio with her family.
Her mother, fellow country star Linda Davis, tells Nashville newspaper The Tennessean the project was inspired by their group performance at Jim Ed Brown’s funeral over the summer (15).
“He (Jim Ed) was about family harmonies and his family wanted us to be a part of that,” Linda says. “Ever since Hillary was a little girl, family harmony is all she’s known, as well as Rylee Jean – our youngest daughter.”
They recruited acclaimed musician Ricky Skaggs to produce the project, and the process has been an unforgettable one for the entire family.
“As parents, it’s so fun to be able to be involved in a project with both of our children,” Linda adds. “It’s a dream we didn’t even know to dream about that’s fallen into place.”
She reveals the record will include gospel standards as well as new songs the Scott family wrote together.
“It’s sort of a nice combination of past, current and maybe what will last long after we’re gone,” she says. “That’s our hope.”
The album is slated for release next year (16).
