Courtney Love “Taken Hostage” By Paris Cab Drivers

Rocker Courtney Love was left terrified when she was caught up in angry demonstrations in France on Thursday (25Jun15) as protesters attacked her car during a drive into Paris.

The Hole frontwoman took to Twitter.com to explain that the car she was travelling in was ambushed as cab drivers blocked roads leading to and from the city’s airports in a stand against taxi app Uber.

Love claimed the driver was held hostage and the car was beaten with metal bats before they escaped by jumping on motorcycles, while they were also pelted with rocks by protesters and ignored by police.

She used the microblogging site to scold French president Francois Hollande for the lack of law enforcement amid the crisis and even likened the protest environment to conflict-ravaged Baghdad in Iraq.

The singer also aimed a message at fellow musician Kanye West, who reportedly stayed within the airport to avoid facing the protesters.

She writes, “Dude… Kanye West we may turn back to the airport and hide out with u (you). Picketers just attacked our car Paris Uber strike… They’ve ambushed our car and are holding our driver hostage. They’re beating the cars with metal bats. This is France? I’m safer in Baghdad… Francois Hollande where are the f**king police? Is it legal for your people to attack visitors? Get your a** to the airport. Wtf (what the f**k)?… Paid some guys on motorcycles to sneak us out, got chased by a mob of taxi drivers who threw rocks, passed two police and they did nothing.”

Love posted an image from within the car showing what appears to be an egg-splattered window, and later took to Instagram.com to share a video of a group of men shouting at the driver of her car, adding in captions, “How on earth are these people allowed to do this? The first car was destroyed, all tyres slashed and beat with bats, these guys trying to open the doors and the cops are doing nothing??… Civil reform needed in France?? I want to go home… I’m scared out of my wits… I can’t believe this really just happened… Happy to be alive.”
